Under 8's Information
Welcome to the under 8's page. This age group is for children in the school year 3 age group starting on 1st September, i.e. children aged 7 at the 1st of September 2011.

When do the squad train
The squad start pre season training Wednesday 17th August and will run every Wednesday evening. Meet at the club 6:30pm.
Always check the web site training sessions in case training is cancelled due to coaches unavailable or bad weather. View training sessions

When do the squad play matches
During the playing season September - April matches are on Sunday Mornings 10:00 - Noon.

How do I join
We have a squad of 14 players but need more players to cover for injuries and players unavailable. We are aiming for a squad of 22 plus players so if you are interested in playing mini tag rugby come down to Copley on any training session or match day

2011 - 12 Season - Under 8's

The squad continue playing tag rugby this season and there are no changes to the rugby continuum. The pre-season training for the U8s is going to start on Wednesday 17 August (6:30-7:30) meet at the club. This will be a regular session in addition to the Sunday morning training/matches.

We had a great season last year and your new coaches hope to carry on the good work. Our ethos will be to ensure every player in the squad enjoys their time, develops as a player and gets equal game time. Your coaches this year will be Darren Grogan, Roderick Freeman, Christopher Westgarth and Rick Connell. We really hope you will come along and continue to be part of the U8s squad.

We will make a few changes this year, the main one is to ensure that everyone feels part of the team. We will announce the man of the match, top tagger and effort award in the clubhouse after each session. It would be great if everyone could join us for this each week.

The new season starts on 28th August with player registration and a fun day to gently ease players into tag rugby. We will be looking to run two sides again this season, The Sharks and The Tigers. If you are interested in playing mini tag rugby come down to Copley on any training session or match day or contact one the above or contact Dave Butler (see contact details above).

Interested in Sponsoring the Minis
Anyone interested in sponsoring the Minis please contact any of the coaches or people below. The amount can be as little as £5 upwards. The money goes into a pot to buy equipment such as balls, tag belts, tackle shields, training shirts, coaching tops, marker cones and poles. The list is endless there is always new equipment to buy or replace worn out equipment.
