There are a few roles we would like parents to help with and take some of the workload off the coaches.
If there are any parents who would like to help with the coaching please contact Rod. We will arrange courses you can attend and develop your coaching skills.
We also would like a parent or parents to help with writing match reports for the website and the local newspaper.
The Sharks had a great start to junior rugby on a full size pitch only loosing one game before Xmas break at Morley. In the second half of the season there were just 2 defeats again at home to Morley and then in the e;the season winning just two games up to the Christmas break. No new players joined at the start of the season but several new players joined in December to boost the squad to 19 players. No games were played during December due to bad weather but it gave the coaches time to get the new players up to speed.
The second half of the season saw a big turnaround in fortunes losing just one regular game to Aireborough. They entered the Scunthorpe festival and won 2 games drew one and lost one to finish 3rd. In the Huddersfield festival they won 3 games drew one and lost three to finish 4th against some tough opposition. In the district festival they failed to qualify for the Yorkshire cup this season.
If they are able to keep this squad they should have a good season as u13s.

This season at under 13s level the squad move up to junior rugby and play on a full size pitch. will be the last season of mini rugby before they move up to 15 a side junior rugby on a full size pitch. There are a number of changes to the game. They play 13 a side rugby adding a number 8. Also converting a try is introduced and kicking the ball is permitted. In the forwards the scrum is now a 6 man scrum and lineouts and scrums are now contested. Games are played on a half size pitch.
We have a team of 3 coaches with RFU Coaching qualifications. They will ensure all players of all abilities have a pleasurable rugby experience in a safe and controlled environment. There are will be a number of players returning again this year but it would be great to see more new arrivals, both those who are encountering rugby for the first time or those who are looking to supplement some experience gained at school or other clubs. The emphasis is on enjoyment and team spirit through rugby. Winning is an enjoyable experience, but if you achieve pleasure from the game success often comes as a by-product.
The under 13s play 13 a side midi contact rugby on a half pitch. On match day Sundays the squad meet at 10am and train/warm up till 11am when the matches start. Some Sundays are dedicated to training/player development, these are on average one Sunday per month (see fixtures on the menu bar).
