2010 - 11 Season - Under 11's
The under 11's improvement continues and opened the season with good wins over Bees, Baildon and Brods. In the West District Festival they were unbeaten and qualified for the Yorkshire Cup. New players joining the squad saw player numbers increase to 23 which enabled them to field a development team on a number of occasions. The bad weather and Christmas break seemed to disrupt their game and suffered a few defeats including exit from the Yorkshire Cup at the first hurdle to Hull.

The second half of the season saw an improved performance to win the Brodleians Festival Bowl and finish runners up at the Southport Festival. They were beaten in the semi final at the Keighley Festival by a very good Lymm team who went on to win the Festival. The development side had to play at the Sandal Festival due to key players unavailable, they won one game but suffered close defeats in the other pool games. It was still a good performance as the standard is very high at Sandal Festival.

Review of 2009 - 10 Season - Under 10's
The under 10's had a very sucessful second season of contact rugby. Last season they struggled for numbers but have recruited well to ensure they can compete with stronger sides and at festivals. They made a steady start up to Christmas winning the shield competition at the District Festival and won more games than they lost. The second half of the season saw them reap the rewards of all the training. They won the plate competition at the Brods Festival and were runners up on tour at the Scarborough Festival.

The squad are now progressing well after struggling last season and should do well next season as they move up to midi rugby.

Review of 2008 - 09 Season - Under 9's
The Raiders took the big step from tag to tackle this season starting with a squad of 12 players but as the season progressed a few players dropped out and by November the squad was down to 6 players. Several under 10 players stepped in to help out with the short fall in numbers in the true spirit of rugby. Thanks go to under 10's Oliver Swales, Greg Day, Lewis Hilton, Dan Byrnes. Just before the Christmas break squad numbers started to increase and ended the season with a squad of 11. A further bonus for the squad two parents Adrian Muscat-Baron and Geoff Symms started to help Dave with the coaching. As a result performances began to improve on the field of play with wins over Brods and the double over Sandal.

The under 9's ended their season with a playing record played 23, won 5, drawn 3, lost 15.

  • Toby Muscat-Barone won the coaches award.

Review of 2007 - 08 Season - Under 8's

The under 8's (The Raiders) have struggled with numbers this season with a squad of 10 players. Despite the small squad they have performed well under coach Dave Puddephatt winning more than half their games.

The highlight of the season was winning the Huddersfield Festival Shield with a very small squad. At the Harrogate Festival they were unable to progress to the finals losing 2 pool games and drawing the other two. Next season they hang up their tag belts and move on to contact rugby.

Dave does need some help with coaching the players especially as they are moving up to contact rugby. Ideally we like to have 3 coaches at each age group. We also need to recruit more players to build the squad as they move from 7 a side tag rugby to 9 a side contact rugby. We will have a close season campaign to search for more players. Often word of mouth is the best way to recruit so lets try an encourage a friend or someone in the same year at school to come down for a trial.

Under 8's Squad James Senneck, Harry Smith, Kien Mather, William Symms, Sam Puddephatt, Callum Bell, James McHugh, Alex Scoley, Kallan Jamieson, Ben Riley, William Hilton

The awards
Player of the Year goes for the second year running to Callum Bell. He is not only one of the most exciting attacking players I have seen all season in any team, he consistently shows 100% effort in defence too. Well done Callum.

The Most Improved Player award goes to Kallan Jamieson. In his first season he has scored 42 tries, always wants the ball and has developed a great habit of nipping through a gap or down the touchline when the defence are not alert!

The Coach's Award goes to James McHugh. Always present, always keen, always listening and always tries to put into action what I ask the team to do. Well done James.

Review of 2006 - 07 Season - The Under 7's

The under 7 section started playing their first competitive fixtures this season. During the season a few more players joined the squad to boost the numbers to 12 players.

The highlight of their season was at the Harrogate Festival where they won all their pool games to top the group but lost by one try in the final to finish runners up to Sandal. This was an excellent performance considering some of the older and more experienced players were unavailable and 2 players from the under 6 group made up the squad with no substitutes. In the Huddersfield festival they were runners up in their group and met hosts Huddersfield in the semi final but lost 4-6.

The under 7's ended their season with a playing record played 32, won 14, drawn 4, lost 14.

The awards
Kian Sutcliffe won the most improved player award.
Emma Bower won the coaches award
Callum Bell was voted the player of the year..

Review of 2005 - 06 Season - The Under 6's (The Micros)

The under 6 (The Micros) section completed their first full season of mini rugby and the numbers have grown as the season progressed. They did not play any competitive games but spent the season learning the basics of the game ready for next season. Several players gained some match experience as they joined in with the under 7's as they reached their 6th birthday.

We now have a squad of six under 6 players who will form the basis of the under 7's next season and six under 5 players who (next season) will be able to join in the under 7's squad as they reach their sixth birthday.

The awards
William Symms won the most improved player award
Toby Muscat-Baron won the player of the year trophy.
