There are a few roles we would like parents to help with and take some of the workload off the coaches.
If there are any parents who would like to help Mark with the coaching please contact him. We will arrange courses you can attend and develop your coaching skills.
We also would like a parent or parents to help with writing match reports for the website and the local newspaper. We just require the result, who scored tries, the playing squad, and a few words on the game with any man of match winners etc
We require a team manager to welcome new players and complete a membership form. If they enjoy the 2-3 week free taster sessions ensure they become RFU registered and create a player ID card to allow them to play competitive games and collect their membership subs.
This season the RFU introduced new rules for the under 8s which involved an increase in the team size from 4 to 6 a side and playing on larger pitches. The concept was to give each player more playing time with the ball and make the game simple with very few rules. Well it seemed to work the squad scored plenty of tries and most weeks we fielded 2 teams the Panthers and Pumas.
After a slow start to the season the squad started to gain confidence as they approached the Christmas break. After Christmas the momentum was still there and the victories against most clubs was the squads reward. The highlight of the season was the Huddersfield festival the squad winning the trophy.

We are always looking for new players to join and boost the squad numbers to be able to run several teams so everyone gets a game. During training sessions the squad is often split into 2 groups, the experienced players and the new player development squad. This allows the new players to learn the basic skills at their own pace and when up to speed can transfer to the experienced player squad.
So if you are an experienced player or new to the game just come down on a Sunday morning 10am - Noon September to April for some free taster sessions before deciding to join. We are based in Copley and please check the under 7s fixture list to see when they are training or have home games some weeks they play away games at other clubs.
The under 10s play 8 a side midi contact rugby on a 60x35m pitch. On match day Sundays the squad meet at 10am and train/warm up till 11am when the matches start. Some Sundays are dedicated to training/player development, these are on average one Sunday per month (see fixtures on the menu bar).
