Under 13's Latest News - 2nd July

There are a few roles we would like parents to help with and take some of the workload off the coaches.

Match reporters
We are looking for a parent or parents to help with writing match reports for the website and the local newspaper. Its not a time consuming task or requires knowledge of rugby. We just like to record the match results and who scored the tries. The players do like to see their names in the paper and on the website

Team manager
We require a team manager to help with the administration and welcome any new players to the squad and ensure they become RFU registered and have a player ID card to allow them to play competitive games.

Review of 2016 - 17 Season - The Under 12's

The under 12's had a steady season winning just over half their games. After a big defeat in their opening game at Brods they settled down to beat Baildon, Keighley, Cleckheaton and Heath then draw with Ilkley and a lossat Rochdale. The district festival was another great success to win the Bowl competition with wins over Baildon, Bees and North Ribblesdale and lost to Yarnbury and Brods. December was mainly a washout again with the weather. January was not much better but the squad finished strongly with only one defeat in April. Two new players Rowan Harrison-Walker and Daniel McLeod joined the squad but we lost four players reducing the squad from 20 to 18 players.

Under 12's playing record
P 22 Won 13, Lost 8, D 1, F 74, A 62
Leading try scorer was Leo Kemp 16 tries, followed by Ol;iver Morris 11 tries and Vaughan Hibbert 10 tries
There were a few games not reported towards the end of the season

The Under 12's Awards
Arthur Davies won the most improved player award.
Oliver Morris won the coaches award.
Ethan Cooke won the player of the year trophy.

The Under 12's Honours

2018 - 19 Season - The Under 13's

This season the squad play 13 a side contact rugby adding a number 8 to the pack and a major change they play on a full size pitch. There is unlimited competition for the ball at the tackle or break down in play and the scrum is a 6 man contested scrum. Players are allowed to kick the ball and call for a Mark. So quite a lot of new skills to develop this season and plenty of work on fitness to get around the pitch.

We are always looking for new players to join and boost the squad numbers. Unless we have a big intake of players we will only run one team with unlimited inter changes so everyone gets a game. During training sessions the squad is often split into 2 groups, the experienced players and the new player development squad. This allows the new players to learn the basic skills at their own pace and when up to speed can transfer to the experienced player squad.

So if you are an experienced player or new to the game just come down on a Sunday morning 10am - Noon September to April for some free taster sessions before deciding to join. We are based in Copley and please check the under 11s fixture list to see when they are training or have home games, remember some weeks they play away games at other clubs.

Under 12s activities/skill development

The under 12s play 12 a side midi contact rugby on a half pitch. Three more players are introduced, 2 second rows to make a 5 man scrum and a full back. There is now unlimited contest for the ball and the scrums are made up of nearest 5 players and a contested strike for the ball. On match day Sundays the squad meet at 10am and train/warm up till 11am when the matches start. Some Sundays are dedicated to training/player development, these are on average one Sunday per month (see fixtures on the menu bar).
