There are a few roles we would like parents to help with and take some of the workload off the coaches.
If there are any parents who would like to help with the coaching please contact them. We will arrange courses you can attend and develop your coaching skills.
We also would like a parent or parents to help with writing match reports for the website and the local newspaper. Its not a big job, we just require the match results, the players in the squad, the try scorers and any awards eg man of the match. If you wish you can add a match summary.
We require a team manager to welcome new squad players and explain the procedures. Once they have completed a trial period and happy to continue playing, ensure they complete a membership form and become RFU registered and hold a player ID card to allow them to play competitive games.
The under 8's had a great season only losing 1 game all season. Thet started well with wins over local rivals Brods and Cleckheaton and going on to win all their games up to the Christmas break.
In the second half of the season it was more of the same but Aireborough brought the 100% record to a halt with 2 draws. In the Huddersfield Festival they lost their unbeaten run to Wilmslow Wolves but still managed to finish as festival runners up. Despite the excelllent playing record the squad failed attract new players to boost the squad.

After another excellent season of competitive rugby the squad this season throw away their taf belts and move onto contact rugby. The squad will learn how tackle during September and play contact rugby from October. The squad should also be looking to run with the ball and try to evade the tackle and look and pass and receive the the ball whilst running. The game also moves from 6 a side to 7 a side so a liitle less space on the pitch. This starts to make players look at spacial awareness.
We will be looking for new players to join and boost the squad numbers to be able to run 2 teams the Cougars and the Jaguars so everyone gets a game. During training sessions the squad is often split into 2 groups, the experienced players and the new player development squad. This allows the new players to learn the basic skills at their own pace and when up to speed can transfer to the experienced player squad.
So if you are new to the game just come down on a Sunday morning 10am - Noon September to April for some free taster sessions before deciding to join. We are based in Copley and please check the under 9s fixture list to see when they are training or have home games some weeks they play away games at other clubs.
The under 10s play 8 a side mini contact rugby on a 60x35m pitch. This stage of development introduces the scrum with the nearest 3 players and thed strike fgor ball is uncontested. At the breakdown of play there is now competition for the ball with the tackledr/ball carrier plus one player alllowed to compete. On match day Sundays the squad meet at 10am and train/warm up till 11am when the matches start. Some Sundays are dedicated to training/player development, these are on average one Sunday per month (see fixtures on the menu bar).
