Review of 2015-16 Season - Under 14's

The Cats had a great start to the season winning all their games up December. In the 3rd round of the cup they had a tough draw away to Huddersfield which they lost 12-24. Several new players joined the squad throughout the season to boost the squad to 30 players. This gave the coaches problems having rotate players to give everyone a game. Only one games was played during January due to the flooding but it gave the coaches time to get the new players up to speed.

The second half of the season saw a the squad only lose two more games to West Park Leeds with a weakened squad. They entered the Darlington Festival and won all their games conceding just one try to win the festival.

Review of 2013-14 Season - The Under 12's

The under 12s completed their last season as a mini squad and next season move up to junior rugby playing the 15 a side game on a full sized pitch. A number of new players joined the squad swelling the squad to 27 players. This is an ideal number for next season playing 15 a side with 5-7 subs and you always have a few players unavailable each week for a variety reaons.

The season started well with qualification for the Yorkshire Cup at the District Festival. Up to the Xmas break the u12s lost just 4 games and won their Yorkshire Cup 1st round match 19-7 at home to Wharfedale. We lost momentum during January and February due to one of the wettest winters for a number of years. Only 3 games were played the Yorkshire Cup 2nd round with a 7-0 win away at Ripon then in the semi final it was a 7-7 at Morley and a 0-7 defeat at home in the replay with Morley who went on to win the Cup.

The season finished with wins over Littleborough and Aireborough and then the tour to Fylde and Fleetwood. A 15-5 win over a strong Fylde team in front of over 1,000 spectators who were there for the Fylde 1stXV game was the highlight of the season.

Review of 2012-13 Season - The under 11s

A great season of contact rugby saw the squad collect four festival trophies. The squad entered the Baildon Festival early in the season and beat hosts Baildon in the final to lift the Festival Trophy. Towards the end of the season in April they won the Littleborough Festival, the Saracens Festival and just came up short in the Brods Festival losing to their bogey side Morley 0-10 to lift the Festival Plate as runners up.

The squad only lost one friendly game up the Christmas break but the run in towards the break was disrupted with no games for 3 weeks due water logged pitches and frozen grounds. In the second half of the season there were to further disruptions with 2 weeks break in Janauary and two weeks in March again due to frozen pitches. When the games were played they only lost to West Park Leeds and bogey side Morley. The only disappointed in the season was failing to qualify for the Yorkshire Cup in the district festival due to a number of key players unavailable on the day. A number of new players joined the squad this season boosting numbers to 20. Some of the players are new to the game but are developing well and will be needed next season as they move up to the 13 a side game. The squad although not very big have able to still compete against much bigger sides and are probably one of the best under 11's in Yorkshire. The results only losing three games all season and taking on some of the best sides in the London area at Saracens show how well they are progressing.

The Under 11's Awards
Alex Sharp won the most improved player award.
Finn Sutcliffe won the coaches award.
Oliver Brian won the player of the year trophy.

They scored 837 points and conceded 201. The top try scorer was Tom Georgiou 36 tries followed by Oliver Brian with 27 tries, and Finn Sutcliffe 26 tries.

Review of 2011-12 Season - The under 10s

Another good season of contact rugby saw the squad collect three festival trophies. In the District Festival they beat Brods 15-10 in the Bowl Final. A tough qualifying pool in the West Park Leeds Festival put them into the Vase final against Northern after losing to a very good Morpeth side. In the Brods Festival they met hosts Brods in the Plate Final and emerged comfortable 30-0 winners.

The squad only lost one game up the Christmas break and recording some big wins scoring over 100 points in one match. In the second half of the season it was much the same losing only 2 games and further big wins to bring their points total to an impressive 1170 for the season. A number of new players joined the squad this season boosting numbers to 25. Some of the players are new to the game but are developing well and will be needed next season as they move up to the 12 a side game. The squad although not very big can still compete with the best under 10's in Yorkshire. The results only losing three games all season are the proof to that question.

Alex Sharp won the most improved player award.
Will Adams won the coaches award.

2010 - 11 Season - The Under 9's

The under 9's moved upto contact rugby this season and we wondered if the squad would be physicaly big enough. The results only losing tree games all season answered that question. They were off to a great start going into the West District Festival unbeaten and winning the festival. They lost their unbeaten run to Cleckheaton just before Christmas. The second half of the season saw them build another unbeaten run into the Festivals. At the Keighley Festival they reached the final only to suffer their second defeat 5-10 to a strong Lymm side. At the Sandal Festival their third defeat was at the hands of Cleckheaton in the 3rd place play off. The score, of course was 5-10. The squad completed the remainder of the season unbeaten to win the Brods and Driffield Festival Cups.

The Under 9's Awards

Review of 2009- 10 Season - The Under 8's

The under 8's had a great season building on the unbeaten run from the previous season. During the 2008-09 season as under 7's their last defeat was on 14th December against Skipton. They went on an unbeaten run of 18 games which took them to the end of the season. This season they continued this run until the 11th April when they lost 5-7 to West Park Leeds in the Final at the Brods festival thus ending an incredible 42 match run.

Despite only losing one game all season there was no silverware for the squad who were runners up at the Brods and Sandal Festivals. They finished the season with a playing record P 26, W 22, D 3, L 1. They scored 305 tries and conceded 188. The top try scorer was Tom Georgiou again with 79 tries, followed by Finn Sutcliffe 63 and Oliver Brian 46.

Review of 2008-09 Season - The Under 7's

This season's new under 7's squad start playing a full season of competitive mini rugby. Last season they were learning the game in the micros squad and joining in with the under 7's to get some competitive match experience ready for this coming season.

The benefit of running a Micros squad obviously paid dividends. The Young Guns have exceeded all expectations, the highlight of a very successful season is undoubtedly winning the Harrogate Festival. The squad only lost 6 games all season finishing the season strongly undefeated in the last 18 games. In fact they had a wobbly start losing their first 2 games to Cleckheaton and Littleborough (but the opposition were fielding a combined 7/8's squad). They started to win games and looked good for a shot at the Sandal Festival but a defeat at the hands of Otley and a draw with West Park Leeds saw them pipped for a place in the final (Next year boys!!). A defeat at Huddersfield in October and 2 defeats at Skipton in December were the only blips for the rest of the season.

The under 7's ended their season with a playing record played 34, won 24, drawn 4, lost 6.

The Under 7's Awards
Brandon Savage and Finn Sutcliffe shared the most improved player award.
Reggie Herd won the coachs award.
Thomas Georgiou won the player of the year trophy. Running in 95 tries

Review of 2007-08 Season - The Micros

The under 6's (The micros) had a very successful and enjoyable season. With new players arriving at the club throughout the year the squad has grown to a very healthy 20 players.

The micros have trained every week and towards the end of the season we invited Huddersfield YMCA micros to come down and join in a training session and play tag rugby. The session worked well and we returned the compliment by travelling to YM for a session. We plan to find another suitable club to join in next season. The basis of next seasons under 7 squad is now in place with 3 parents willing to coach the squad.

Under 6's Squad
Jack Lumb, Edward Grogan, Thomas Doyle, George Wannan, Gabriel Moore, Bobbie White, Oliver Muscat-Baron, Oliver Brian, Rees Baraclough, Kieran Brocklehurst, William Adams, Toby Laurie, Max Hartley, Oliver Walton, Daniel Bentham, Harry Bentham, John Barker, Oscar Rowe, Benjamin Morris, Jack Malinson, Brandon Savage, Reggie Herd, Kieran Lewis
