Latest News - 2nd July 2017

There are a few roles we would like parents to help with and take some of the workload off the coaches.

Team registrar
If there are any parents who would like to help with the admonistration please contact Chris or Marc. Its not a time consuming job but we need someone to welcome new players introduce them to the coaches and complete the membership forms. At the start of the season ensure everyone signs on and check contact details are still correct.

Assistant coaches
If there are any parents who would like to help with the coaching please contact Chris or Marc. We will arrange courses you can attend and develop your coaching skills.

Match reporters
We also would like a parent or parents to help with writing match reports for the website and the local newspaper.

2017 - 18 Season - The Under 16's

Pre season training has started and runs Sunday morning 10am - Noon please make every effort to attend.

We will have a very experienced team of 6 coaches with RFU Coaching qualifications. They will ensure all players of all abilities have a pleasurable rugby experience in a safe and controlled environment. There will be a number of players returning again this coming season but it would be great to see more new arrivals, both those who are encountering rugby for the first time or those who are looking to supplement some experience gained at school or other clubs. The emphasis is on enjoyment and team spirit through rugby. Winning is an enjoyable experience, but if you achieve pleasure from the game success often comes as a by-product.

After last seasons excellent season of junior rugby the coaches are looking for the squad to continue the fine form they displayed in the secong half of the season. In the Yorkshire Cup our main objective is to retain the Yorkshire Cup we won as u15s last season.

u15s Trio selected for England rugby development camp
u15 North players

Three players from the u15’s Yorkshire Cup winning squad were selected to attend a North of England two day training camp which was held at the Weetwood training campus in Leeds. Tom Georgiou, Jacob Pollard and Harry Peach are part of the Yorkshire Carnegie Junior development squad and in a recent six team tournanment in Sheffield involving premiership teams, Sale Sharks, Leicester Tigers, Northampton Saints, Worcester Warriors and Newcastle Falcons, a group of 12 players from the Carnegie JDS squad were chosen by the England selectors to attend the training camp. They joined up with other players from Sale Sharks and Newcastle Falcons.

As part of the England RFU u16’s pathway, 36 players are chosen from four areas, the North, Midlands, London and the South Wast to attend the four associated camps and all teams from the premiership are represented.

Only 2 of our junior players have previously been selected for North of England trials namely Sam Nunn and Ed Cockroft but this is the first time Rishworthians juniors have been represented by three players in a single age group at such a distinguished level. It is testimony to the rising influence and success of both senior and junior rugby at Rishworthians. We wish Tom, Jacob and Harry all the best and as a club are very proud of their achievements
