Welcome to the under 10's page. This age group is for children in the school year 5 age group starting on 1st September, i.e. children aged 9 at the 1st of September 2011.

The squad will start pre season training Friday 5th August 6:15pm - 7:30 and Sunday 7th August 10:00am - Noon. Then every Friday and Sunday till further notice.

During the playing season September - April matches are on Sunday Mornings 10:00 - Noon.
We are aiming to run two teams this season so if you are interested in playing junior rugby come down to Copley on any training session or match day. Any new players experienced or new to the game are welcome to join in.

After the major changes of last season when we moved into contact rugby, the transitin to under 10's rugby are relatively small and insignificant. This season you play with a size 4 ball and we are adding contested scrums and line-outs and this will change the shape of the game and of those playing it. Possession a key element for all teams (there is an old saying if you have the ball your opposition cannot score but you have the opportunity to do so). Those in a position to do that, and indeed turn over opposition ball, will be difficult to beat.
We have a very experienced team of 6 coaches with RFU Coaching qualifications. They will ensure all players of all abilities have a pleasurable rugby experience in a safe and controlled environment. There are will be a number of players returning again this year but it would be great to see a few new arrivals, both those who are encountering rugby for the first time or those who are looking to supplement some experience gained at school or other clubs. The emphasis is on enjoyment and team spirit through rugby. Winning is an enjoyable experience, but if you achieve pleasure from the game success often comes as a by-product.Pre- season training starts on the first Sunday in August further details to be announced nearer the time. Any new players experienced or new to the game are welcome to come down and join in. We are aiming to run two squads, but with equal mixed abilities. This team believes everyone should enjoy there rugby!.

Under 10's Squad

The under 10's enjoyed their second season of contact rugby with another immpressive record proving that the squad although not very big can still compete with the best under 10's in Yorkshire. The results only losing three games all season are the proof to that question. They were off to a great start going into the West District Festival unbeaten and suffered their first defeat against Ilkley which meant they dropped into the Bowl Final beating local rivals Brods. They went on another unbeaten run until March when they lost to Morpeth in the West Park Leds Festival. Their third defeat was agianst Wetherby in the Sandal festival. The squad completed the remainder of the season unbeaten to win the Brods Festiva; Plate.
