U15's  Harrogate Festival 2006
Rishworthians fail to reach final on try count rule

Rishworthians were unable to repeat last season's performance at the Harrogate Super 10s when they reached the final and lost to National Champions Sandal. This season their progress to the final was brought to a halt on a try count with Hull Ionians. Both teams had lost one game each but Rishworthians had to score 11 tries in their last game to go through. They made a very detemined effort and came very close running in 9 tries (almost a try every 2 minutes) against Wharfedale.
The pool matches were played 10 minutes each way and tries converted from a drop kick.

Rishworthians 14 -  24 Moortown

Rishworthians started their bid to win the Super 10s at Harrogate at 10.00 a.m. on a cold Saturday morning against Moortown.
As seems to be the norm the OR boys don’t wake up at this time in the morning and made the going hard for themselves.
Ben Porritt
did get the first try of the day followed by Gilbert Gregory but Moortown were on the ball quicker than ORs and
came out winners by 24 – 14.

Rishworthians 21 -  0 Old Brodleians
The second game was against local rivals Old Brodleans.  This was the first time the two teams had met this season.
Chris Dyson
(who only got back in to the country 8 hours previously) scored all three of ORs tries in what was a hard fought
game but one in which ORs moved the ball around a lot quicker and wider resulting in a final score of 21 – 0.

Rishworthians 10 -  7 Hull Ionians
The third game was against Hull Ionians (one of only two sides who have beaten ORs this season.)  Hull had looked sharp in their two previous games coming out winners in both and by half time they were 7 points up.  In the second half  ORs dug deep and played a very physical game which put Hull off their stride.  Imad Nasir powered over for a try and Edward Cockroft converted to level the scores and with seconds to go ORs were awarded a penalty which Edward Cockroft drop kicked to give ORs another
win 10 – 7.

Rishworthians 63 -  0 Wharfedale
ORs had the last match of the group to play.  It was against Wharfedale and a very numerically minded Mr. Clough had worked
out we had to score 11 tries to win the group or 10 tries to draw and then find out on count back if we were through. The boys went out determined to get the tries – at least one every 2 minutes.  Bradley Gorman started the ball rolling with 3 tries, Imad Nasir was next, Christus Ferneyhough scored 3 and Ben Porritt got 2 making a total of 9 in all.  The boys were devastated but at least they had tried.  A note on the conversions.  All conversions were drop kicked by Edward Cockroft.

Hull Ionians went through as group winners on number of tries scored and played group B winners Otley in the final.
Hull
Ionians were beaten in the final by Otley somewhat against the run of play as they were winning 10-0 with 2 minutes to go,
but bottled it at Otley won with the conversion from the last kick of the game.
