2010 - 11 Season - The Under 10's

The under 10's start their second season of contact rugby. This season they still play 9 a side rugby but the scrums and line outs are contested.

A few more new recruits joined the squad towards the end of last season taking the squad up to 12 players but we do need more to compete well at the festivals. We need 15 players for a festival squad so we are aiming for 20 players as not all squad members are always available every week.

We are hoping another parent will be available this season to help Grahame and Simon with the coaching.

Review of 2009 - 10 Season - The Under 9's

The under 9's threw away their tag belts this season ready for contact rugby. They started pre season training in preparation for contact rugby and this paid off losing only 3 games up to the Christmas break. At the District Festival they won two games drew one and lost one only conceeding 20 points and that was in their defeat.

With no rugby for 7 weeks due to bad weather and Christmas break they could repeat their earlier form and lost 11 games. They struggled at the Sandal Festival due to having a small squad (hopefully we can recruit and strengthen next season). They faired better at Brods Festival reaching the Bowl Final but injuries and a tired small squad saw them lose to Moortown 5-25. We just need more players please.

Review of 2008 - 09 Season - The Under 8's
The under 8's had a good season winning 50% of their games. On several occasions they had enough players to form two teams. In the Sandal Festival they were unable to progress past the pool stages winning 2 games losing 2 and one drawn. At the Harrogate Festival they beat Brods and Otley but lost to Darlington MP who went through to the final unbeaten in the pool. There were some good wins against local rivals Brods, Keighley, Huddersfield and Hudds YMCA.

Tney are looking forward to the new challenge of contact rugby next season.

The under 8's ended their season with a playing record played 45, won 22, drawn 9, lost 14.

Review of 2007 - 08 Season - The Under 7's
The under 7's had a very successful and enjoyable first season of competitive rugby. With new players arriving at the club throughout the year and players coming up from the under 6's the squad has grown to a very healthy 20 players. However we will still need to continue to recruit more players at Under 7 level next year as well as at Under 8's.

Whilst the coaching staff has grown to three more help is needed with the larger numbers of players. Fortunately 5 more parents and a sister of one of the players have agreed to take the tag course and are interested in helping out. With more adult input the standard of coaching should get even better resulting in an improving quality of rugby being played by the minis.

The increasing number of players has allowed us to field two sides in most competitive matches since Christmas. This has given the chance for all the players to take part in and gain experience from both the Huddersfield and Harrogate festivals and in playing matches against some very good local and not so good local sides. The main emphasis as usual in the under 7's has been about enjoying the game and playing fairly. The players have responded brilliantly and throughout the year have been a credit to themselves, the club and their parents.

The parents also need a mention for their continued support. It makes life so much easier when you can rely on them to keep you informed of the availability of the players and to bring them week in week out to the games and training. I would personally like to thank Mark Oldroyd and Neal Mallinson for all their hard work and help in coaching the teams over the past year.

Under 7's Squad Corey White, Kian Sutcliffe, Finn Sutcliffe, Ben Riley, Nathan Donaldson, George Sutcliffe, Tom Stott, Joe Barrett, Toby Muscat-Baron, Daniel Haigh, Alex Oldroyd, William Harker, Carrick Keighley-Payne. Henry Hilton, Jacob Whitehouse.

Finally, the awards.
Player of the Year goes to Corey White.
The Most Improved Player award goes to William Harker. In his first season he has scored 42 tries.
The Coach's Award goes to Henry Hilton. Always present, always keen, always listening and always trys to put into action what I've asked the team to do. Well done All.
Grahame White

Review of 2006 - 07 Season - The Under 6's (The Micros)
The under 6 section (The Micros) has developed well this season with over 10 players (some as young as 4 ) in the squad attending training sessions over the season. Several have gone onto play competitive games with the under 7's having reached their 6th birthday. Three of the squad played in the Harrogate Festival final. Next season should see the start of a good under 7's squad.

Under 6's Squad Corey White, Kian Sutcliffe, Finn Sutcliffe, Ben Riley, George Sutcliffe, Toby Muscat-Baron, Daniel Haigh, Alex Oldroyd, Jacob Whitehouse.
