Morley Mini Festival Under 7's & Under 8's 2005 Match report
The under 8’s got off to a promising start, beating the Old Brods 4:2, whilst the under 7’s were winning their match against Leo’s 5:2 on the adjoining pitch. The under 7’s narrowly lost to York, 4:5, and the under 8’s had a close game against Pocklington, but lost 4:6. Alex ‘Powerhouse’ Ratcliffe and Richard Pullough scored well, and promising play also came from new team members James and George Radcliffe.
In later matches Leo’s under 8’s took revenge, winning 3:6, and after a close match, Home team Morley took a narrow win against the under 8’s 4:2. Some good runs came from Dillan Wannan and William McDonnell, and as always focused efforts were put in by Thomas Cockroft and Thomas Dalziel. In the final matches the York Under 8’s, won 5:1 whilst the under 7’s were narrowly beaten by the Old Brods at 5:4. In this last match the under 7’s put in a sterling effort and it later transpired that the Old Brod’s under 7’s were winners of their category.
Attendance at the mini’s training is growing rapidly and they become better with each match venue they play. It seems almost certain that extra shelf space will soon be required in the club’s trophy room.
