Rishworthians Young Guns & Raiders enjoy their day at Leeds Tykes
Match report Sunday 16th September
Fourteen players from the under 7's and under 8's had a thoroughly enjoyable day hosted by the Leeds Tykes.
In the morning they attended the training session at Kirkstall with the Tykes players and coaches. The training session started with some warm up games and then moved on to other games aimed at improving basic skills.
In the afternoon they went on to the main Headingley ground and played a match against Yarnbury at half time in the Leeds Carnegie vs Gloucester game.
Rishworthians put out two teams at half time at Headingley with each team playing half a game against Yarnbury. Both teams played very well and the new players did brilliantly, bearing in mind they had only done a couple of training sessions. Rishworthians ran out 6-4 winners, a result which was made more impressive by the fact that Yarnbury had an extra player on the field!
The club would like to give a big thank you to the coaching staff, Grahame White, Dave Puddephatt, Mark Oldroyd and Simon Bower for all the planning and organisation on the day, thanks to all the parents and friends who supported their children and most importantly to the players who were a credit to themselves and to the Rishworthians Rugby Club.
