Match reports 1/4/2007
This Sunday the Under 9's and under 10/11's squads combined to enter an under 10's side in the Huddersfield Festival.

A big thank you to the players and parents who went to Huddersfield festival on a cool but sunny Sunday morning. With a mixture of half u 9's & 10's
Rishies battled though 4 matches against well drilled opposition.
Robbie Stott was the man of the festival for his tackling throughout the 4 matches & for the try against Ripon.
T
he effort award goes to Oliver Machon for some inspired running.

Under 10's Results
Huddersfield  7 - 0  Rishworthians
Huddersfield's well drilled side romped into a 4 - 0 half time lead, and added 3 further unanswered  tries in the second half.
Rishworthians battled well but were unable to penetrate a well organised defence.

Cleckheaton  7-1  Rishworthians
In a similar fashion to the first game Cleckheaton were the better drilled side to take a
3 - 0 half time lead.
In the second half Rishworthians improved and
Yanek Kasmierski scored a well worked try but Cleckheaton dashed any hopes of a fight back with 4 further tries.

Huddersfield YMCA   5-0  Rishworthians
Rishworthians again battled well but could not prevent YMCA running in 3 first half unanswered tries.
A slightly better second half by Rishworthians restricted YMCA to score twice.

Ripon  8-3  Rishworthians
Ripon built up a
4 - 0 half time lead but in the second half Rishworthians played their best rugby with a try from Robbie Stott and two from Jack Pilcher
scored from pick-up's at the side of the scrum. However Rishworthians defence leaked 4 further tries.

It was great to see the commitment  from all the TEAM, and I think all that watched were pleased.

Robbie Stott, Richard Kiy, Richard  Bullough, Oliver Machon, Yanek Kasmierski.

Match reports 25/3/2007

This Sunday the Under 7's and under 8's teams were invited to the Huddersfield Festival
.

Under 7's Results
The under 7's played two matches in their pool.

Huddersfield Maroons  2 - 6  Rishworthians
The first match against Huddersfield Maroons was an outstanding team performance. With Grahame White having to referee the other game, Dave Puddephatt stepped up to lead the team. They didn't need much leading! to a player they advanced as a line leaving the Maroons to move backwards and forwards across the pitch searching for gaps. Winning frequent turn over ball or forcing the opposition to step into touch the Rishies side earned a memorable victory 5:2
Scorers against Huddersfield maroons were Callum Bell (4)  Emma Bower (2)

Rishworthians 5 - 5 Selby
The second game against Selby was a totally different game. Selby gotoff to aflying start and surged into a 3:1 lead. A heavy defeat for the Old Rishworthians looked to be a strong possibility. But the entire team rose to the challeng of a quicker and bigger team and with seconds remainig scored a great team try to secure a 5:5 draw.
Scorers against Selby were Kian Sutcliffe(1) Emma Bower (2) Toby Muscat-Baron (1) Callum Bell (1)

Semi Final
Rishworthians  4 - 6 Huddersfield Gold

As runners up on tries scored, Old Rishworthians went on to play the other group winners Huddersfield Gold. This was an excellent game. Both sides were evenly matched chasing and harrying the Rishworthian side were in with a chance of beating Huddersfield Gold and reach the final. Every one was playing their part but despite a four try salvo from Callum Bell it ended 4:4   After some consultation with the organisers the referee explained that 2 minutes of extra time would be played. Old Rishworthians were up for it and the game carried on at the same frantic pace. Huddersfield Gold to their credit as hosts, raised their effort to another level and managed to score twice in extra time.

The entire squad has bonded brilliantly during the course of the season and their team play and effort was rewarded by a most enjoyable days rugby.
